Chapter Philanthropy

As a chapter, we host many events to raise money for our philanthropy as well as host events for children in the Huntsville area to enjoy. This past year we held our First Annual Crawfish Boil at the Walker County Fairgrounds. It was all you can eat crawfish, corn and potatoes for $25 a person. It was a huge success and we ended up raising over $8,000 for our philanthropy.

Another event that we host is Penny Wars. This is a week long competition between every sorority and fraternity on campus. We have buckets with each of their letters out in the mall area and whoever raises the most money is awarded $200 towards their philanthropy. There's a catch though, pennies are considered negative and many organizations competing will throw pennies in another's teams bucket to subtract from the amount of money they have raised. This friendly competition gets the fraternities and sororities on our campus involved in our philanthropy while benefiting their own, which calls for a fun week. During the week of Penny wars, we also have an opportunity where you can "Pie-A-Tri" by paying $1 you can pie any sister you would like.

Another great event we host is our Annual Easter Egg Hunt. We organize this event for the children in the Huntsville Area. Every year we have an Easter Egg Hunt, many fun interactive games, have our very own Easter Bunny, as well as provide lunch for children and their families.

Once a semester we visit the Dallas Children's Hospital to volunteer in the play therapy rooms. This is one of the two hospitals the Tri Sigma Foundation supports. We are extremely fortunate to be able to see our hard work in action by volunteering our time and services to the Dallas Children's Hospital.
